Cloud Security & DevSecOps Assessment

Know what your application, cloud, and delivery pipeline actually expose

Security incidents in custom software rarely start with an exotic exploit. They start with an over-privileged access key, a public database, a secret committed to a repository, a pipeline that can deploy anything without review, an unpatched dependency, or a backup nobody ever restored.

The Quancats Cloud Security & DevSecOps Assessment is an independently purchasable engagement that examines the application, the cloud environment, and the delivery pipeline as one connected risk surface.

You keep hosting and infrastructure ownership. What you gain is an evidence-based view of exposure and a prioritized plan to reduce it.

Who This Assessment Is For

5

The engagement is bought on its own, usually by organizations already running something in production:

  • Companies operating a business-critical application in the cloud.
  • Teams that grew their infrastructure faster than their security practices.
  • Products handling sensitive customer, financial, or government-related data.
  • Organizations answering security questionnaires, audits, or enterprise procurement reviews.
  • Businesses whose deployment pipeline has more access than any individual employee.

Application Security

6

Scope is adapted to the application and operating model rather than a generic checklist:

  • Authentication and session design.
  • Authorization, roles, and tenant isolation.
  • Input handling and injection exposure.
  • File upload and storage handling.
  • Sensitive data handling in transit and at rest.
  • Error handling and information leakage.

Cloud and Infrastructure Configuration

6
  • Cloud architecture and network exposure.
  • Publicly reachable services and ports.
  • Environment separation between production and non-production.
  • Storage, database, and backup configuration.
  • Infrastructure-as-code and configuration drift.
  • Cost/blast-radius implications of the current topology.

Identity, Access, and Secrets

6
  • IAM users, roles, and privilege scope.
  • Administrative and break-glass access paths.
  • Multi-factor and account recovery posture.
  • Secrets storage, rotation, and exposure in code or CI variables.
  • Third-party tokens and integration credentials.
  • Offboarding and access review practices.

Delivery Pipeline (DevSecOps)

6
  • Repository access, branch protection, and review enforcement.
  • CI/CD permissions and runner trust boundaries.
  • Build and artifact integrity.
  • Dependency inventory and known vulnerability exposure.
  • Automated security checks in the pipeline.
  • Deployment approvals and rollback paths.

Detection and Recovery Readiness

5
  • Logging coverage and retention.
  • Monitoring and alerting on security-relevant events.
  • Audit trails for privileged actions.
  • Backup coverage and, more importantly, restore verification.
  • Incident escalation ownership and response expectations.

Deliverables

8

Typical outputs:

  • Executive summary written for decision-makers.
  • Security findings with evidence and affected components.
  • Severity classification by exploitability and business impact.
  • Risk register with owners and exposure notes.
  • Technical remediation plan per finding.
  • Prioritized recommendations separating urgent fixes from structural work.
  • Governance and process gaps, not only technical defects.
  • Optional scope for a remediation engagement.

Hosting Ownership Stays With You

This is an assessment, not a migration offer. You do not need to move hosting, cloud accounts, or infrastructure ownership to Quancats. We work with read-level access to your existing environment, and the findings remain useful whether remediation is handled by your team, your current provider, or Quancats.

Typical Duration

Most assessments run two to four weeks. Number of applications and environments, cloud provider spread, pipeline complexity, and how quickly read access is granted are the main variables.

What We Need From Your Side

5

Depth of findings follows depth of access:

  • Read access to the repositories and pipeline configuration in scope.
  • Read-level visibility into cloud accounts and environments.
  • A walkthrough with whoever owns infrastructure today.
  • Any existing security documentation, audit findings, or incident history.
  • Written agreement on the boundaries of the assessment before we start.

Starting Investment

The final price depends on the number of applications and environments, cloud provider spread, pipeline and integration complexity, sector requirements, and the depth of review required.

Scope Boundaries

This engagement is a configuration, architecture, and process assessment based on granted access. It is not a formal penetration test, a certification audit, or a compliance attestation. Where those are the real requirement, we say so and scope the assessment to support them instead of replacing them.

Frequently asked questions

Do we have to move our hosting to Quancats?

No. Hosting, cloud accounts, and infrastructure ownership stay with you. The assessment is performed against your existing environment with read-level access.

Is this a penetration test?

No. This is a configuration, architecture, and delivery-process assessment. It often identifies the issues a penetration test would target, but it is not a substitute for one where a formal test is required.

Can you assess a system you did not build?

Yes. Most of these assessments are on systems built by internal teams or other vendors.

Will you fix the findings?

Remediation is a separate decision. The plan is written so your team or your current provider can execute it, and Quancats can take part or all of it if you prefer.

How disruptive is the assessment to production?

The work is primarily review-based using read-level access. Anything that could affect a running environment is agreed in writing with you before it happens.
